Joe Wolfe is a co-founding member of Wolfe & Houlehan PLLC in Lexington, Kentucky. His practice covers business transactions, business litigation in state and federal court, complex probate disputes, personal injury, estate planning (including business succession planning), and family law.

Joe has represented clients in complex litigation across Kentucky, from Pike County in the east to Hickman County in the west, and he is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. He opened his own practice, Wolfe Law Office, in 2009 and co-founded Wolfe & Houlehan in 2011. Across both firms he has handled a wide range of matters, and he has learned that good results usually come from careful work on the details. Over the years, Joe has had the privilege of representing clients from every walk of life, from professional football and basketball players to stay-at-home parents doing what may be the most important job there is: raising their children.

Joe graduated summa cum laude from the University of Kentucky in 2005 with a 4.0 GPA and highest departmental honors in a dual major in Economics and Finance. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2009. That training in economics and finance still shapes his legal work, particularly in business disputes, estate planning, and cases where the numbers matter.

Joe is also an experienced educator. He has taught more than 480 hours of continuing education in business law, employment law, and workplace safety and OSHA compliance. He has traded stocks and options for more than twenty years, and in recent years he has traded primarily in the energy futures space, where he follows the economic and geopolitical forces that drive commodity prices.

Kentucky Roots

Joe was born in Ashland and has lived in Lexington since 1995. He is a direct descendant of James Garrard, Kentucky’s second governor. While serving in the Virginia legislature, Garrard helped lead Kentucky’s separation from Virginia and helped draft Kentucky’s first constitution.

Community

Joe has fostered roughly one hundred dogs for animal rescue organizations, including the Paris Animal Welfare Society, Woodstock Animal Foundation, and PAWS-4-the-Cause.
